Clothing, footwear and other training equipment:
All children that participate in Saturday Soccer will need to wear appropriate footwear for astroturf surface i.e. firm ground boots (such as AstroTurf boots). It is also expected that children will wear shin pads.
It is expected that children will wear appropriate clothing for participating in training. In warm weather, a T-shirt with shorts and football socks is recommended.
When the weather is cold it is expected that children will wear at least a sports jumper and tracksuit trousers. It is also advised that children have a woolly hat and gloves.
All children that attend training should also bring a bottle of water that they can drink during break times.
If a child has any medical issues (such as asthma) it is important that parents/guardians bring all prescribed medical interventions to training.
Parents and guardians
When children are training parents/guardians are expected to remain at the training session to support and encourage players.
Canterbury Eagles is run by volunteers who have a passion to support children to have fun and develop their interest in football. Most of the volunteers at the club are parents/guardians who have children playing in various age groups. We encourage all parents/guardians from Saturday Soccer to volunteer to support with coaching or other roles. As each year group progresses to league football it is the aim of the Club to have one or more parents/guardians involved in the running of that age group.
If parents/guardians are interested in supporting in a coaching capacity then the Club will pay for a CRC Check (Criminal Records Check, or DBS), as this is the minimum requirement of the Club for volunteers working with children. Additional training is also provided.
